MBS Radio is a locally owned and operated group of 24 radio stations across Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. Our portfolio of products includes on-air advertising, live on location broadcasts, digital platforms and more. MBS Radio is dedicated to serving the communities in which we operate, and at the centre of that responsibility is our local news coverage. Our newsroom is looking to fill a journalist position with someone who has a passion for storytelling.

Do you live and breathe current events? Are you constantly checking your Twitter, Facebook, and local news websites for updates in your community, province, and beyond? Are you fascinated with what’s going on in the world, and investigating sources for their legitimacy? Then we want to hear from you.


 Keep up to date with major developing stories and be able to tell these stories on multi-platforms

Coordinating with the local news editor to consistently produce interesting and local newsworthy stories told in traditional and non-traditional ways.

Writing and editing newscasts

Ensure news content is of the highest standards and serves MBS Radio listeners in the best possible way, driven to find stories that matter within various communities around the Maritimes.

Be plugged into social media trends and the knowledge to use it to chase breaking news tips and other potential stories



 Post-secondary diploma or degree in Journalism.

Excellent writing skills

Solid news judgment

Superior language and editing abilities

Strong knowledge of journalism ethics and law

Working knowledge of BURLI

Ability to work effectively under pressure and deadline

Must be able to take direction and work independently
